What happens next?

Thank you for becoming a part the Kuusi Palaa cooperative!

Kuusi Palaa venue will open on the 1st of March 2018 if all 100 stakes are sold in time. From that day on you will be able to access the space 24/7, propose the activities you wish to organise, pledge to those brought up by other people and hopefully much more.

Points and proposals
If you were part of Temporary, then you are familiar with the basic concept of the proposal system which was used to establish a decentrally curated programme. Kuusi Palaa will extend this proposal/points system with some modifications. For example, at Temporary an event needed 100 Temps to be scheduled no matter what it was; at Kuusi Palaa, events will require roughly 100 points per hour, but with lower rates for events proposed in off-peak times, such as mornings or the middle of the night. The small back room can be used for private events by stakeholders, but can also be used for public events that might want either a smaller room, or both rooms.

In addition to proposing events, it's hoped that one will be able to proposed fixed content, for example an object to place inside the space for a certain amount of time. And most importantly, everyone will be able to propose not just events they want to organise themselves, but events they would like someone else to organise for them. (example: 'I would like someone to teach a workshop on how to teach dogs how to play synthesisers.') This is intended to connect people through the diverse interests of Kuusi Palaa participants, and to find activities that have a greater demand.

The Temporary 'open time' concept will still be in place at all other times, and people will still receive a few points for showing up to that every day, whether they are a stakeholder or not.

This is still being fine-tuned, and the plan is to launch it on this website mid-February, at which point we will have a better sense if Kuusi Palaa is likely to happen (ie: are we going to sell enough stakes?). If you buy a stake now, your 500 points per stake will be allocated to you then, and we'll send an email about it.

Upcoming events and meetings
As we see a community as an important aspect of Kuusi Palaa, the sooner and the closer we get to know each other, the better it will be. Therefore, in February there will be several Kuusi Palaa pre-launching events. You will have a chance to meet the other stakeholders and potentially interested members, see the space we will be sharing, etc. You will hear more details about it soon here.

These 'Open House' events will work as a social gathering, general Q&A session with the developers of the Biathlon system, and a way to collect ideas for the physical space. Already there are discussions about setting up lockers to store personal items, building a small 'stage' in one corner, and the need for some new plants and other items. Come along and bring your friends!

Worst-case scenario
Don't worry! In case all 100 stakes are not sold by the end of February and Kuusi Palaa will have to end its operations (before actually starting), your money will be refunded, minus the very small costs (such as bank transfer fees, etc.).

Promotion and contact
In the meantime, you can help by spreading the word to anyone who you think might be interested in Kuusi Palaa. The goal of Kuusi Palaa is to decentralise the traditional roles of administration, financing and production in a shared physical space, so that also includes promotion and marketing. Tell everyone: family, friends, coworkers, lovers and enemies. Contact journalists, moviestars and other fashionable media personalities.Take out ads in a newpaper or magazine. Hire a skywriter to write KUUSIPALAA.FI in chemtrails vapor above the skies of Helsinki. Tattoo 'Kuusi Palaa' on your forehead. (The font is 'Source Code Pro', one of the free Google ones). Name your next child 'Kuusi Palaa'. It's going to take more than one or two people to make this work.
